Playing WARZONE and Modern Warfare on SHADOW

Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone made a huge ground-breaking staple in the gaming industry in 2019. The Call of Duty franchise was already one of the biggest video game franchises in history. With the introduction of Call of Duty Modern Warfare, the franchise has outdone itself with it’s new video game engine and outstanding realism with plenty of attention to detail.

If the game wasn’t good enough, Modern Warfare also released their second attempt into the Battle Royale game mode type – Warzone. They managed to pull a Fortnite and made this game mode completely FREE for to download for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC gaming platforms. Not only is Warzone and the multiplayer version of Modern Warfare available for all these platforms, it is cross platform between all three. This means PS4, Xbox, and PC player can all play together all in the same match. This was another ground breaking move for the Call of Duty franchise.

Now that this latest version of Call of Duty is cross platform, we decided to test out how well it performs on our Shadow PC. We have various videos testing the capabilities of Modern Warfare and Warzone on the cloud gaming service – Shadow. Let’s take a look at some of the videos and give an explanation on how things played on the Shadow PC.

Controller Lag on Shadow Tech

The controller lag on Shadow is minimal. Granted, this all depends on how far away you are from your Shadow PC. I am located in Ohio so my data center is 5 hours away from me in Chicago. The video below tests just how responsive the Shadow is on Modern Warfare.

I used gamepad-tester.com to record the input of my controller as I was playing. As you can see in the video above and the rest of the videos in this post, Shadow can handle playing competitive games like this. There is lag but it is very minimal. Modern Warfare Multiplayer on Shadow

Multiplayer is the bread and butter of all the Call of Duty games. Call of Duty was the first to have the “Killcam” which featured a clip of the player just before they killed you to see where and how you were defeated. This feature and many other defining game features make the Call of Duty franchise sacred to many gamers.

When the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released in 2007, this game also redefined the multiplayer gaming industry. With modern day perks that the player can use to increase their “killstreaks”, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare set a precedent not just for the franchise but for the first person shooter genre altogether.

Enter the new Modern Warfare. This is actually a prequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare but the game engine is vastly improved with great detail to gameplay, graphics, and animations. The results were pretty good. We did have some issues regarding play-ability and game size but managed to work things out accordingly. The Best Settings to Play Modern Warfare on Shadow

With my introduction to Modern Warfare on the cloud gaming platform Shadow, I really had to play with the settings to get the best out of the latency from the cloud service. Granted, the internet speeds on Shadow are fast as hell but, I still needed to adjust some things to play somewhat decently.

In the below video, I am playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare on my desktop in 4K. The first few games were all about testing and changing the controller settings so you can adapt to the controller lag that was very apparent once I started playing.

You do have to keep playing to get used to the fact that you are playing on a cloud gaming service. Practice in multiplayer is everything. You are sure to get better here than any other mode.

The more I played on Shadow with these settings, the better I got. As of now, it is still smoother to play on your PC or console. But once you get used to the natural cloud gaming lag that occurs, you can still perform admirably. If you want to see exactly what I am referring to, I have full gameplay matches to see how well SHADOW PC holds up to lag and precision while being as competitive as possible.

Modern Warfare Multiplayer Crossplay

Now for our specialty testing. I pair up with my friend who is running the game on PC to do some crossplay or as we like to call it – Cloudhopping. As a two player group, we team up to play so multiplayer matches on various maps. Here are some of our favorites games as we present them to you in 4K side-by-side so you get to see how the Shadow PC gameplay compares to regular PC gameplay.

Multiplayer on a Mobile Devices

These are probably the most important tests on here. How does gameplay stack up while trying to play on a budget Android tablet and an iPhone? well check the videos below to see how Shadow is able to deliver while playing the game through the apps on these devices.

If you wanted the videos, you’ll see that the iPhone gameplay is much smoother than the Android gameplay. This is because the Vankyo MatrixPad S8 does not support 5Ghz Wifi. This is extremely important in providing a quality gaming streaming experience due to the larger screen on a tablet versus a screen on a smaller mobile device. Keep this in mind when getting a tablet that to play your game on using Shadow. Meet the requirements, but ALSO make sure it supports 5GHz Wifi along with your router.

Playing Warzone on Shadow

Call of Duty Warzone became one of the most popular Battle Royale games in existence with some 60 million players. It’s only natural that we were going to test out Warzone on Shadow. We have a couple of videos in Warzone with various game modes.

Duos Royale

We are here playing a couple matches of Warzone in the Mini Royale playlist playing in 4K on my cloud gaming Shadow PC. My buddy is playing on a normal PC. See how well Shadow PC holds up to the additional latency of playing on a cloud PC. I had to adjust my controller response to the delay, but it was playable. I also have the benchmark stats for the Shadow PC in the top left corner.

Here is our best Warzone match to date. We finally were able to get a Top 3 finish with plenty of twists and turns throughout the match. This one is definitely worth the watch.

Warzone Plunder

I am actually not a big Battle Royale fan. I am more of a slower paced gamer who likes to take my time, explore them map and look for gear, etc. This is why I prefer the Plunder game mode. You can go anywhere, collect as much money and gear as you want, use your loadout from the start, and take your time exploring the map as you see fit. I feel right at home with Plunder.

We managed to pull of a pretty decent Plunder run as well. The kills were plenty as we scoured the Prison and the Farmland in search of cash. Check out our Plunder video as well.

Modern Warfare Spec-Ops Co-op on Shadow

We didn’t stop there. We just had to try out the Spec-Ops mode on Shadow as well. Playing through all of the Spec-Ops missions with a partner is fun. You also need the other two squad members to be competent enough to perform well on these missions.

Here are a couple of crossplay side-by-side mission completions with various random teammates and awesome scores on performances if I do say so myself.

Warzone Weapons in Real Life

Since Modern Warfare and Warzone is set in today’s world, so are the weapons. The majority of the weapons in Modern Warfare are based from real weapons in real life. Not all the guns are are using real names for copyright reasons so we found a couple of articles that are really informative that give some great info on the guns of Modern Warfare and Warzone.
