Hyper Scape is Ubisoft’s new Battle Royale game to compete with the other ever so popular games of the category. It is in Open Beta so we wanted to try it out and get a feel for it in terms of gameplay and how well it works on Cloud Gaming services. It is free on GeForce Now and we installed it on our Shadow PC.
Battle Royale games are all the craze right now and with this new entry, Hyper Scape has a futuristic setting with power ups and hi-tech weaponry. My take is that it is very Ready Player One inspired. It is pretty cool to see a Battle Royale game take place in a futuristic setting since most of the other Battle Royale games today are set in a more modern world. On that note, let’s take a look on how Hyper Scape plays in the Cloud Gaming world.
Hyper Scape Intro and Training
Thankfully if you are interested in Hyper Scape, the download size is pretty small. I only had to download it on Shadow at 8.4 gb. Since I started playing on GeForce Now, I didn’t have to download anything which is nice. I was able to jump in and get started immediately. Plus The free version of GeForce Now wasn’t too busy so I got in really fast.
When you first get into the game, you get hit with the intro video of How-To play the game. It’s a couple of minutes long and explains just about everything you need to know. There are many differences compared to other battle royale games so pay attention.
The futuristic style of Hyper Scape is refreshing. While in the training area you get to try out all the unique weapons and skills that go along with the game. I would recommend to try them all out and get used to them before starting match. This includes the skill mods that are there too. Using the mods are essential to being successful because using them well will change how you fare in combat.
First Match and Elimination
For my first match in Hyper Scape, I was first surprised by how fast paced the matches are. Combat takes a bit of time to get used to because of the fast paced gameplay. I was playing with an Xbox Controller for my first match to see how well it handled in combat. The sensitivity was threw the roof for me so I had to play with those settings to adapt the fast paced combat a bit better. You might have to do this as well.
As you can see, I was killed pretty easily in the match. Check out the video to see how I got what I deserved. It was cool how there is no circle like other other battle royale games and certain parts of the map just fall off the map randomly. I did like this concept.
Hyper Scape Crossplay on Shadow and GeForce Now
Two of us tried group play on Shadow PC and GeForce Now. The player queue on GeForce Now was empty and bandwidth on the Shadow PC was clear so we had no problems connecting and us both Cloud Gaming platform on the same network. We went through several games to get used to how Hyper Scape plays. It is a learning curve for sure if you are used to games like Warzone or PUBG.
I switched to keyboard and that help me out a lot since precision is better on a mouse. We ended up getting a number of kills but never lasted long enough to win. We’ll have to keep playing to get better.
Overview
We’ll be playing more Hyper Scape in the future. It is free-to-play so feel free to jump in and download it to try it out. Get GeForce Now and you could play without downloading anything. We’ll be covering more in the future once it is out of Open Beta. Stayed tuned for more on Hyper Scape.
